Los Glaciares National Park
As you travel into Argentina in South America, you will find that this is a country of many magnificent national parks. Some of the more popular ones include Iguazu Falls and Tierra del Fuego, although the ones best known and most often visited are in Patagonia. Without doubt, one of these called the Los Glaciares National Park is among the most impressive. Featuring 356 glaciers and a blanket of ice that covers this protected area, you will fall in love with its natural beauty.
As you visit Los Glaciares National Park, you definitely want to treat yourself to a walk on the glacier. To get there, you will need to travel to a village called El Calafate. From there, you can take a scheduled bus to reach your destination. Upon arrival, you will be mesmerized by the experience. Typically, the tour would begin with a trip to Bahia Redonda of Lake Argentino and then on to Patagonia Valley, which features incredible wildlife such as ostrich, fox, guanacos, and others.
Then, you will stop by several other fascinating places to include River Centinela, Cerro Frias, Cerro Comision, and more, on your way into the Los Glaciares National Park. The journey will continue on along the coast of Brazo Rico and then through areas of vegetation dense with cherry, notros, lengas, and nires trees. From there, you end up at Curva de Los Suspiros, where you will enjoy the most spectacular view of Glacier Perito Moreno.
Because Los Glaciares National Park is in the west of Argentina, it receives tremendous rainfall with comfortable but tropical climate. While in the park, you can take time to raft, hike, horseback ride, fish, mountain bike, or take a unique photographic safari. In addition, this is a popular camping area in Argentina although shower and toilet facilities are rare.
