Visiting St. Thomas

Making up the four islands of the Virgin Islands in the Caribbean are St. Croix, St. John, St. Thomas, and the lesser known island, Water Island. Although all the Virgin Islands are magnificent, many people love spending time on St. Thomas.

This island is 32 square miles of tropical paradise with beautiful trees, sandy beaches, turquoise water, and hospitable people. When visiting St. Thomas, you can simply rest and relax or take a guided tour along the many, mountainous roadways to enjoy breathtaking views.

While there are so many things to see and do, Drake’s Seat is probably one of the more popular while visiting St. Thomas island. St. Thomas, Virgin Islands From this vantage point, you have an amazing view of what Sir Francis Drake would have seen while sailing the deep blue sea. Then below Drake’s Seat is Magens Bay Beach, which has been featured several times in the National Geographic Magazine as one of the world’s most beautiful beaches, and it is, as seen in the photograph!

Another area you want to visit while on St. Thomas is Mountain Top, which is situated 1,500 feet above sea level where an incredible, festive shopping complex is found. The views are spectacular, the shopping the best, and after walking around for hours, you can sit back and enjoy the world’s famous Banana Daiquiri. These daiquiris are specially made with Cruzan Rum that comes straight from the Virgin Islands. Then heading to the other side of the island is Paradise Point, a location with a tramway that will take you up 700 feet to give you the most unbelievable view of Charlotte Amalie Harbor and more.

While staying on St. Thomas island, you have your choice of five-star hotels with luxurious accommodations or quant guesthouses. The same is true for dining experience. Some of the restaurants are lavish and elegant while others are more hole-in-the-wall cafes. Other activities to enjoy include an 18-hole golf course, charter boats, tennis courts, a bowling center, and marine park. Regardless of what you choose to do, the one thing everyone can agree on is that a visit to St. Thomas will rejuvenate and refresh.

Although there are many beautiful islands in the Caribbean, the United States Virgin Islands offer something special and unique. In addition to vacation value, you have the best of everything from secluded beaches to duty-free shopping to kayaking to world class diving, and everything in between. You can even enjoy many fine arts and crafts made by local artisans. The Virgin Islands are a wonderful blend of tropical forests and nightlife, all wrapped up beautifully in safety, security, and efficiency of the American flag.
