Dream of Tower

The country of Denmark is known for many things such as beautiful landscape, wonderful food and pastries, incredible shopping, jazz and other types of music genres, literature, and amazing cities. However, one thing that Denmark is known for that is a “must see” is the Dream of Tower. This tower stretches up to the sky, standing for joint accomplishment and the people’s belief system.

The Dream of Tower exhibit is organized around three primary themes that include a historic overview of the visions and dreams of the people, emotional experience of the global city skyline, and physical experience of being inside a massive skyscraper. When visiting the Dream of Tower, you can move about from one room to another, starting with the first exhibition room that focuses on the vision of building upwards, which would include other structures such as Normal Foster’s Millennium Tower or the Tower of Babel. The purpose of this exhibit is to represent dreams of reaching for great heights.

As you head to the center of this exhibition room, you will see an impressive model of the Tatlin Tower. This tower was the suggestion of what the Soviet Union perceived a skyscraper to be, which was put on display at the World Exhibition in 1919. The models throughout the Dream of Tower in Denmark are all the same scale, which is 1:200. With this, you get a true perspective of the structures.

The Dream of Tower also includes what they call “view machines”. These machines provide visitors with a 360-degree view of the metropoles of the world. Finally, you can go to the last exhibition room, which focuses on building technology and engineering, specific to high-rise buildings. This exhibit includes information on the invention of the lift, along with data about earthquakes, interior climate, energy consumption, and other factors for running a skyscraper.

As a part of the exhibits in the Dream of Tower you will learn all types of interesting facts about things such as the number of light bulbs used in the Empire State Building (3,194,547). You can also experience the Turning Torso, which allows you to follow the construction of Copenhagen. Finally, photographs, films, and the models provide you with a unique look into the past life of Denmark, as well as the future and goals of the people. This is truly a spectacular opportunity and one that you should take time to see.
