London Aquarium

Throughout the world are many exciting aquariums but the London Aquarium is definitely worth seeing when visiting the United Kingdom. All year, you can your family can enjoy the creatures under the sea, enjoying vibrant colors. Then from July to September, you can take an amazing undersea journey and for the kids, let them participate in various arts and crafts projects specifically offered by the aquarium.

This privately owned organization is a great place if you are worried about boredom. The London Aquarium is the first attraction of its kind in the United Kingdom and one of the largest global aquatic life exhibitions in the world, with more than 450,000 gallons filled with incredible life. The greatest aspect of the aquarium is having the opportunity to come face-to-face with piranha as they feed, saber-toothed sharks, and then, you can even pet starfish and stingray!

London Aquarium The Octopus display is truly a remarkable experience. In the large tank are many different octopus species. Most are red and brown in color although there are some interesting species that actually change their color to blend in with the environment. Living in the octopus display are other underwater creatures to include the starfish, purple sunstar, dahlia anemones, and more.

Another popular display at the London Aquarium is the jellyfish display, which is designed as two distinct tanks that are positioned back to back. While there are many different jellyfish species, the Spotted Jellyfish is one of the main ones, which lives in South Pacific harbors, lagoons, and bays. Then the Australian White Spotted Jellyfish grows quite large and has a brown blue color with opaque white spots.

Two other displays that people come to see include the new mangrove and European freshwater displays. The mangrove features a rock wall backdrop with waterfall, sand banks, and tidal movements. Many animals that you would find in a natural environment such as crabs, frogs, and a four-eyed fish called Anableps live in the mangrove. Finally, the European freshwater display is amazingly beautiful. The theme is that of a fast-moving river with a shoal of brown trout and wonderful vegetation.

These examples are just a few of what the London Aquarium has to offer. Taking time to visit is the ideal day trip, something the entire family can enjoy. Therefore, while in the United Kingdom, to balance all the sightseeing of historical sites, the aquarium makes a great destination.
