Jamaica is a fantastic destination for the entire family. In addition to the famous Reggae music, Jamaican people also love jazz. For this reason, while in Ocho Rios, you might consider the annual jazz festival. For eight straight days, you will be entertained by some of the most talented local jazz players. As a part of the Ocho Rios Annual Jazz Festival, you will find all types of local food, drinks, to include local rum, and plenty of opportunity for fun.
Of course, the Jamaica Festival is everyone’s favorite, which is a salute to local talent. In fact, with many uprising star, some locals will use this festivals as a way of being introduced to the world. This particular festival started 40 years ago and today, considered one of the finest gatherings in the entire country. In addition to incredible music, you will also enjoy art and photography, dance, speech, drama, gospel competitions, and more.
Another fun type of festival is the Jamaica Plain World’s Fair held in Hyde Square. Running for the past 17 years, this fair offers a day of children’s events, music, arts, crafts, neighborhood fun, and lots of international food. The focus of the World Fair is to focus on the spirit of diversity and community pride that makes Jamaica such an incredible place to live and visit. This event is free and offers a huge line up of musicians by established and new talent.
On stage, you will hear gospel, meringue, reggae, country, rock and roll, salsa, and mariachi. Then for the children, they can participate in activities such as a Ferris wheel, moonwalk, arts, magic games, face painting, and more. This particular festival is well organized and something the locals look forward to all year. With so much going on at the fair, it is the perfect day activity for you and the family.
Finally, the Reggae Sunfest is another festival loved by everyone. Held in the months of July and August, this four-night concert is jam packed with unbelievable musical talent. The Sunfest is held each year at the Bob Marley Performing Center in Montego Bay. In addition to lots of local talent, you will also hear big name stars, all eager to provide you with an incredible show.
