Opened in 2002, this contemporary art- themed hotel is located on Lietzenburger Strasse, 500 metres from the famous Kurfürstendamm shopping boulevard and the Story of Berlin Museum. The nearest airport is Berlin-Tegel (TXL), nine kilometres away and around 20 minutes by car.
Hotel Features. The slogan of the Art'otel is 'A Warhol Exhibition', and there are over 200 artworks around the hotel: a combination of art by Warhol and photography by Christopher Makos. The hotel's artistic theme attracts a predominantly young and trendy clientele but also businesspeople looking for a colourful alternative to standard business hotels. There are two conference rooms available, both of which are equipped with wireless Internet and audio-visual equipment. Guests can dine on French cuisine in the Art'otel's Factory Restaurant and Bar, surrounded by famous Warhol artworks. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and is furnished with grey and black chairs lit by coloured spotlights. Tables feature Campbell's Soup cans with 'Factory' on the label, and life-size cut-outs of Warhol and photographer Christopher Makos adorn the wall-to-wall windows. Berlin's central park, the Tiergarten, is located 1.5 kilometres from the hotel. From the Tiergarten, joggers and walkers can follow the Spree Canal which leads towards the Chancellery, Reichstag and the Brandenburg Gate. Guestrooms. The Art'otel has 91 guestrooms spread over six floors, all of which are decorated in vibrant shades of green, with etched glass headboards and Warhol prints on the walls. All rooms have desks and coffee tables, minibars, safes and high-speed Internet connections. Bathrooms follow the colour scheme of the room, and come with hair dryers, toiletries, and bathrobes. Expert Tip. Located 500 metres from the hotel is the Story of Berlin Museum. Artistic and creative exhibits portray the history and development of Berlin over 800 years. There is a floor of books which symbolises the book burning of 1933 and a radiation-proof bunker complete with fold down metal bunks.
